What's Going on This Week? Adopt a Stream, Child Abuse Symposium and More

Here's what's happening in and around Oakland Township and Lake Orion this week.

There is a lot going on this week. Here are some highlights:

  1. Meetings:
    • Monday: There is a Rochester Community Schools Board of Education meeting at 7 p.m. at the . The Orion Township Board of Trustees meets at 7 p.m. Monday at .
    • Wednesday: A meeting will take place at 7:15 p.m. at . The Orion Township Planning Commission meeting scheduled for Wednesday has been cancelled.
    • Thursday: The Lake Orion Village Council will host a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. at Village Hall to discuss the 2012-2013 budget.
  2. Child Abuse Symposium: From 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday, community members are invited to attend a at Monument of Faith Baptist Church in Pontiac. The symposium is meant to educate the public on the subject and list ways to prevent child abuse.
  3. Eagle Creek Academy Kindergarten Round Up: Eagle Creek Academy in Oakland Township will host a informational session at 7 p.m. Tuesday for both existing and potential academy students. For more information or to RSVP call Eagle Creek Academy at 248-475-9999. There is also a from 9-11 a.m. on Wednesday.
  4. Adopt a Stream Basic Training: The Clinton River Watershed Council is offering an Adopt a Stream Basic Training course for community members who would like to help monitor river water quality in the area. A training will be held from noon-3 p.m. on Saturday at the . The team of community members who sign up for the training will check water quality in May and October by collecting data onsite.
