31 Days Till School: Know the Important Dates

Each day of the month leading up to the first day of school, Patch will be bringing you useful back-to-school information, tricks, trends, tips and more.

Well, it's officially one month until school starts, whether you're ready or not.

So before you get caught off guard by early releases, parent-teacher conferences, school breaks or days off – and so you know when to expect to see a report card – here are the dates you need to know for the 2011-12 school year for , and community schools:

First day of school

Sept. 6 for all three districts

Holidays and seasonal breaks

• All three districts are off Nov. 23-27 for Thanksgiving recess.
• In Rochester and Lake Orion districts, winter recess is Dec. 19-Jan. 2; in Romeo, it's Dec. 20-Jan 3.
• Mid-winter recess for Rochester and Lake Orion schools is Feb 20-21; for Romeo, it's Feb. 17-20.
• Spring recess for Rochester is March 31-April 9; for Lake Orion, it's April 2-6; for Romeo, it's April 2-9.

Conferences

• For Rochester students: Elementary school conferences are Nov. 9, 15 and 17 and April 19 and 25. Middle school conferences are Oct. 13 and 20 and March 7 and 15. High school conferences are Oct. 13 and 19 and March 8 and 14.
• For Lake Orion students: Elementary school conferences are Nov. 14 and 16 and middle school conferences are Nov. 15 and 17.
• For Romeo students: Elementary conferences are Nov. 30, Dec. 1 and March 15. Middle school conferences are Nov. 9 and 10. High school conferences are Oct. 12 and 13 and Feb. 29.

Last day of school

The last day of school is June 15 for Rochester and Lake Orion schools; it's June 8 for Romeo schools.
