Do Anti-School Bond Billboard Messages Cross the Line of Good Taste?

Incendiary billboard messages strike nerve with bond proponents.

In recent weeks, commuters entering Lake Orion from the Oxford area have been met with a series of messages on a large "Message Center" billboard addressing Tuesday's Lake Orion school bond vote.

"'Give us more $ or your teachers and kids will suffer' is extortion," one message read, followed by a note for voters to opt against Tuesday's bond vote.

"Giving poor management more $ is like giving an alcoholic more beer," another message reads.

While it is unclear who is responsible for the messages, the billboard has struck a nerve with proponents of Tuesdays bond.

"So, the 'no' people are saying that the school district is like a drunk? REALLY? I don't know about you, but that is one of the MOST offensive things I have ever heard/seen!" an administrator of the "Vote YES on Lake Orion Community Schools Bond Proposal" Facebook page wrote Monday in a post.

A follower of the Facebook page also chimed in: "Couldn't believe it when I saw that billboard! Offensive, inappropriate, just plain wrong!"

What do you think? Do these messages cross the line of good taste, or is this reaction overblown? Let us know in the comments.
