Lake Orion High Grad Enters West Point Military Academy

Cadet Kaileen Tweedie of Oakland Township completed basic training and hast started her coursework at the West Point Military Academy.

Cadet Kaileen Tweedie of Oakland Township completed Cadet Basic Training at the U.S. Military Academy and began classes Aug. 20.

Tweedie graduated from , where she was captain of the girls lacrosse team, an NHS member and lamp of learning recipient. She plans to graduate from West Point in 2016 and be commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

Tweedie entered West Point on July 2, according to a release from West Point, and has successfully completed six weeks of Cadet Basic Training, which is also referred to as "Beast Barracks." Areas of summer instruction included first aid,
mountaineering, hand grenades, rifle marksmanship and nuclear, biological,
and chemical training.

Tweedie began classes August 20. The West Point curriculum offers 45 majors
balancing physical sciences and engineering with humanities and social
sciences leading to a Bachelor of Science degree.
