Icy conditions on the roads prompted the Lake Orion Community Schools and Romeo Community Schools districts to cancel classes Friday.
The districts were among more than 130 throughout Metro Detroit to do so, according to clickondetroit.com.
The National Weather Service said snow showers were possible Monday, with wind gusts as high as 47 miles per hour Friday in Oakland Township and Lake Orion.
The forecasting agency also issued a wind advisory for much of southeast Michigan, including Oakland Township and Lake Orion, from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. Monday. It predicts the strongest winds will occur during the afternoon and early evening hours.
"The strong wind gusts will present hazardous conditions for motorists and those engaged in outdoor activity, scattered power outages due to downed branches and wires," the advisory said. "Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. Use extra caution."
