Summer Music Theatre Prepares for 'Seussical the Musical' Next Week

More than 100 Rochester-area students are involved in this year's Rochester Community Schools Summer Music Theatre production.

They, of course, are the approximately 125 students from the Summer Theatre Program who are all working hard this week to get ready for at .

The musical is based on Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who and features familiar characters from the book as well as the Cat in the Hat, who acts as narrator of the story.

"They work really, really, insanely hard," said Eric Swanson, vocal director for Seussical, who played piano during rehearsal Monday morning. "I'm really excited to see the show open."

"The musical is a really family-oriented show," added Jessica Glaser, a Seussical group leader and recent graduate. "We have amazingly talented kids."

The show runs July 28-31, and tickets are "going fast," according to box office staff. Tickets cost $10 for children and seniors and $12 for adults; they may be purchased at the Stoney Creek High School box office this week from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. or within the hour leading up to each show.

Show times are 7 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
