Paint Creek Trail Labor Day Bridge Walk & Run

The Paint Creek Trailways Commission and Friends of the Paint Creek Trail are organizing the 7th Annual Paint Creek Trail Labor Day Virtual Bridge Walk and Run on September 3, at 9:00am at the Rochester Municipal Park.  This event is part of the Labor Day Community Walks that are held throughout the state in conjunction with the Mackinac Bridge Labor Day Walk. For more than fifty years, Michigan residents have gathered in St. Ignace for the Mackinac Bridge Labor Day Walk. However, not all Michigan residents are able to attend the Bridge Walk. Friends of the Paint Creek Trail hope to give more Michiganders an opportunity to participate in this walking tradition by encouraging residents to participate in their local community walk.

Online registration and downloadable registration forms are available online at http://www.paintcreektrailfriends.org.  This is a free family event, with a suggested donation of $5.00 per family to raise funds for trail improvements.  Organizers are offering two routes, a 2 mile walk, or a 5 mile walk/run.  Due to construction projects on the Paint Creek Trail, new routes utilizing the Downtown Rochester River Walk and Clinton River Trail are being utilized.  The event starts at the Kiwanis Pavilion, where participants can gather and enjoy free fudge samples and Caribou Coffee.  Dinosaur Hill Nature Preserve, Flagstar Bank, and Dr. Ron Fried Chiropractic & Wellness Center will also be on site with freebies and health related information. Onsite registration starts at 8:00am, and the walk begins at 9:00am
