Lake Orion Player Gets Ready for Spartans' New Season

Ethan Ruhland will be on the roster when Michigan State opens its 2012 season tonight against Boise State.

When the Spartan football team gathers on their sideline for the season-opening kickoff in tonight's game against Boise State, you'll want to look for a local gridiron hero.

Whether you are in the stands or watching on TV, keep an eye out for #68. That's Ethan Ruhland, the 6'-5" senior offensive lineman from Lake Orion. Ruhland, the son of David and Mary Gemma Ruhland, is a fifth-year player having red-shirted his freshman season.

He is the back-up center and left guard, according to the MSU media guide. He is a three-year letter winner, who has played in 19 career games. In 2011, he was named an Academic All-Big Ten selection for the third-straight year, saw action in 12 games primarily on special teams, and started at center in the win over Minnesota.
