NFL Analysts Predict Stoney Creek Grad Will Be Drafted in Round 1

Insiders say Eric Fisher is a sure top 10 pick in 2013 NFL draft.

The NFL draft is two months away, which means sports writers and analysts are abuzz with predictions about which players will be picked in that prized "first round."

On the short list: Stoney Creek High School graduate Eric Fisher.

Fisher, a senior offensive tackle at Central Michigan University, has been predicted in recent days as a top 10 draft pick by NFL insiders.

Detroit Free Press writer Dave Birkett wrote that Fisher has "gone from a lightly recruited beanpole out of Rochester Hills Stoney Creek High ... to one of the best offensive line prospects in the draft."

At the NFL Scouting Combine this week in Indianapolis, Fisher told reporters it was his goal to become the first tackle selected in the NFL draft, according to a report on MLive.com.

The Combine, where more than 300 draft prospects will be tested and work out for NFL scouts and personnel, continues today.

Fisher is a 2009 Stoney Creek graduate. He is a Mechanical Engineering major at Central.

According to the 2013 NFL draft profile, Fisher is the top left tackle prospect of the senior class.

The draft profile explains: "He fell through the recruiting cracks a bit as a 250-pound tackle coming out of Stoney Creek High School in Michigan, where he only played on the offensive line there in this senior season (he captained both the football and basketball teams that year). ...

"During his senior year, Fisher anchored an offensive line that averaged 6.2 yards-per-play, second best in the MAC and the same unit only allowed 14 sacks, which was good for fourth best in the MAC."

CBS sports ranks Fisher as being picked sixth overall.

The NFL draft is April 25-27.
