Dragon on the Lake Schedule for 2012 Promises Music, Art, Boats and Fun

Here is a look at the activities planned for Aug. 24-26 during the 4th annual Dragon on the Lake Festival in Lake Orion.

Lake Orion will be transported back into Medieval times this weekend as Dragon on the Lake takes over downtown.

Organized by the , the festival runs Friday, Aug. 24, Saturday, Aug. 25 and Sunday, Aug. 26.

The festival will feature dragon boating, art exhibits, crafts, concerts for kids and adults, food and much more.

Here is a look at the weekend's events:

Friday:

Sunset Kickoff Party

  • 6:30-10 p.m., on the shores of Lake Orion at Pelton's Point
  • Cocktail Supper, Premium Bar
  • Dancing, viewing of Lighted Boat Parade, meet and honor sponsors of Dragon on the Lake
  • Attire: Summer Chic
  • $50/person - space is limited; tickets are available
  • Reservations can be made online

Lighted Boat Parade

  • Begins at dusk in the Orion Marine, Pelton Point area and will travel around shoreline
  • Boats will be judged on best decorations
  • Winners will be announced Sunday afternoon following the Dragon Boat races at the Dragon on the Lake Main Entertainment Stage
  • Winner's name inscribed on the Dragon Cup

9-5 p.m.: Dragon Boating Team Practice
