Double Rainbow! Pic Wins Patch of Michigan Photo Contest Week 5

Double rainbow all the way! In this case, it means good luck for the reader who won week 5 of our Patch of Michigan Photo Contest.

Reader Cheryl Royster captured this double rainbow over Ore Lake, and it brought her good luck. She is the winner of , which saw about 100 entries.

Royster won two pavilion tickets to the Santana concert at DTE Energy Music Theatre on July 15. Find out more about the concert via the DTE Energy Facebook page.

Our judges liked the composition of the photo, and how it captured a still moment over what is usually a busy lake brimming with recreation — "it's pure Michigan," one of the judges said.

Here's how Cheryl got the winning picture: "We noticed the rainbow across the street from Ore Lake and I grabbed the camera (Nikon D80). I was taking the photos from the front yard when I noticed the reflection in the still water. So I went across and knelt in the sand to get the best shot I could.  The storm had just passed and the rainbow split the middle of the light and dark clouds. I probably took 100 photos (nice to have the digitals to see the best ones). These moments don't come around that often and it was great to be in the right place at the right time!"

And who doesn't like a double rainbow?

In addition to the concert tickets, she'll be entered into a drawing to win the grand prize: a certificate for a two-night stay at Mission Point Resort on Mackinac Island valued at $600.
