1,000 Stockings for our Troops

PRESS RELEASE:  1,000 Stockings for Christmas 2012

For Immediate Release

Orion Township, MI. – February 8, 2012. provideInc has been working toward providing troops overseas with a Christmas from home. The process of creating Christmas stockings began in January and will continue throughout the year until the stockings are shipped overseas in time for Christmas in December of 2012. All ages are welcome and encouraged to join the project.

The project launched with the help of twenty-five high school students from Eton Academy in Birmingham, MI and provideInc is now encouraging participation in the next step of their Stockings for Soldiers project – including, but not limited to, sewing. The upcoming project date, originally set for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, has been rescheduled for Saturday, March 3, 2012 and will take place at provideInc’s new location; 1520 S. Lapeer Road Suites 114 & 116. Lake Orion, MI. The event will be held from 10am- 2pm. provideInc offers the community a number of ways through which they can participate; fabric donation, cutting, sewing, and ironing stockings. The tools necessary will be provided and experienced volunteers will be on hand to help. In addition to creating stockings, volunteers of all ages will invited to create cards and write notes and letters to the troops.

provideInc is a faith-based nonprofit organization that offers volunteers a friendly place for all ages, experience levels, and abilities to provide hands-on help. provideInc’s service projects, which vary in nature and duration, provide new or tentative volunteers with the ability to discover that even small events and actions can have big results. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “Faith is taking the first steps even when you don’t see the whole staircase”.
