Trout Unlimited Volunteers Build New Angler Access to Paint Creek

The access site is off the Paint Creek Trail just south of the Silverbell Road crossing.

Around 50 volunteers and members from four different chapters of Trout Unlimited came together Sunday to construct an angler access point on the .

The new access site is on the east side of the trail, just south of the Silverbell Road crossing near the parking lot. It features wide gravel steps and a clear path to the Paint Creek.

"With this one access, all the anglers are focused on one spot," Jason Davis, vice president of the Clinton Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited, said.

The angler access site "also helps decrease erosion into the creek," volunteer Adam Avery, of Ann Arbor, said.

"Our first priority is preservation for cold-water resources," Tom Quail, president of the Vanguard Chapter of Trout Unlimited, said. "We have our fun fishing, but we take care of the environment."

"It's a chance for us to get together and build something that helps the resource," Greg Baughman, president of the Challenge Chapter of Trout Unlimited, added.

"It's one of southeast Michigan's only trout streams," said Brian Considine, president of the Paul Young Chapter of Trout Unlimited. "It's a very rare and unique resource that we have."
