Man in Serious Condition After Motorcycle Rear-Ended in Orion Township

59-year-old Lake Orion man ejected from motorcycle, hospitalized.

A 59-year-old Lake Orion man was reported to be in serious condition late Wednesday after being ejected from his motorcycle in Orion Township, according to a report by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. According to the report, the Lake Orion man was seriously injured when a 52-year-old Clarkston man in a 2012 GMC Sierra pickup rear-ended his 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle Wednesday afternoon on northbound Baldwin north of Waldon in Orion Township. The accident occurred at about 12:35 p.m., the report indicated, when the motorcyclist was stopped on the roadway attempting to turn into a private driveway at the 2700 block of Baldwin when the truck struck the back of his motorcycle. Downed Pole Leaves 420 Without Power in Oakland Township, Rochester Hills

Several residents in the Rochester Hills and Oakland Township area are without power Tuesday afternoon after a semi-truck struck a pole at the intersection of Adams and Silverbell roads in Oakland Township, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Oakland Township Substation. About 420 customers are without power, according to Randi Berris, a spokesperson for DTE Energy. She said the incident occurred about 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Berris estimates about 300 of the 420 customers should have power restored between 6-6:30 p.m. while it might take longer to restore power for the remaining customers. This story has been updated to correct the location of the incident to Oakland Township.

Woman Arraigned on Charges of Driving Drunk With Child in Car

Pamela Marie Kroll, 47, of Orion Township was arrested April 7 after man called 911 reporting woman's erratic driving.

A woman who police say drove drunk with her child inside her vehicle was arraigned Tuesday before 52-3 District Court Magistrate Nick Camargo, according to Lake Orion Police. Pamela Marie Kroll, 47, of Orion Township was arrested April 7 after Lake Orion Police received a 911 call from a motorist reporting a reckless erratic driver. Listen to the 911 audio above. 2 Sheriff's Deputies Hospitalized in Orion Township Fire

Deputies suffer smoke inhalation after knocking out blaze with fire extinguisher.

Oakland County Sheriff's Office deputies and Orion Township fire crews were dispatched late April 20 to the 100 block of Burniah Lane for a report of a residential fire, according to an incident report. When deputies arrived, they observed heavy smoke coming from the home, the report indicated.  The deputies forced their way into the home to check for people inside the house, according to the report, and knocked out the fire with a fire extinguisher. According to the report, two deputies suffered effects of smoke inhalation and were taken by ambulance to McLaren Hospital.  Both deputies were treated and released, the report indicated.

Prosecutor Criticizes Use of 14-Year-Old in Drug Sting

Jessica Cooper says use of boy in marijuana sting in Lake Orion 'dangerous.'

Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper has criticized the Lake Orion Police Department’s use of a 14-year-old boy in a March drug bust, the Detroit Free Press reported, calling his role in the sting "dangerous." The case involves the 14-year-old boy and Edward Watkins, a 35-year-old parolee with an extensive criminal history, the Free Press Reported. According to the report, Lake Orion Police Chief Jerry Narsh said Watkins was a father figure to a friend of the 14-year-old and had tried to get the boy to buy marijuana. Watkins was arrested March 15, the report indicated, on a charge of delivering marijuana to a minor after the boy arranged a transaction in a parking lot near Children's Park at Anderson and Front streets. Man Tells Deputies He Sexually Assaulted 7-Year-Old Stepdaughter

Man arrested on charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

The following information was provided by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. Arrests do not indicate a conviction. An Orion Township man told Oakland County Sheriff's Deputies on April 13 he wanted to turn himself in for sexually assaulting his seven-year-old stepdaughter, according to an incident report. According to the report, deputies and a detective arrived to the man's Orion Township residence, where he reportedly made incriminating statements. The man was arrested and lodged at the Oakland County Jail on a charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and Child Protective Services was notified of the case, the report indicated. The investigation is ongoing.

Domestic Dispute Prompts Search for Oakland Township Man

Deputies called to residence after woman reports son trying to break down door to family's home.

A woman called the Oakland County Sheriff's Office shortly after 3 a.m. on April 13 to report that her intoxicated 22-year-old son was breaking down the door to their home at the 400 block of Elm Court in Oakland Township, according to an incident report. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found the woman's son had fled the area on foot, but later returned to tell deputies his 50-year-old father was in the woods bleeding, the report indicated.  Deputies determined the father was trying to commit his son for psychiatric treatment at Crittenton Hospital when his son jumped out of the car on Rochester Road near Predmore, according to the report.
