Orion Kids to Shop With a Hero This Week

Police, firefighters, FBI will team up to make sure there is a Christmas.

On Thursday, Dec. 13, Lake Orion children who might otherwise go without a Christmas will go shopping with policemen, firemen and other public servants at the Meijer store in Oxford. Each child will be paired with an adult and have $150 to spend. It’s Lake Orion’s own Shop With a Hero event, and there’s still time to donate. “Every time we get another $150, another kid goes shopping,” said Lake Orion Police Chief Jerry Narsh. Last year 100 children participated. This year the LOPD, the Orion Township Fire Department, Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies, FBI agents and even soldiers of the 1775th Military Police Company of Pontiac who are just back from Afghanistan will take the kids shopping. “We’ve actually started to run out of heroes, we …

Driver Arrested After M-24 Chase from Lake Orion to Pontiac

Lake Orion Police said one 19-year-old man was arrested in the chase. A tracking dog aided the pursuit.

A Pontiac man was arrested Nov. 25 after a police chase that started in Lake Orion and ended in Pontiac. Dante Demarr Rush, 19, was charged Tuesday at 52/3 District Court in Rochester Hills before Magistrate Marie Soma on two counts; fleeing and eluding a police office and driving with a suspended license, second offense.  The first charge is a five-year felony, the second is a misdemeanor. Bond was set at $15,000 cash. The incident began at 1:42 a.m. Monday when a Lake Orion Police officer on patrol saw a pickup truck southbound on M-24 traveling in a way that suggested drunk driving.
