Help Sought in IDing Man Accused in Thefts at School Building

Man accused of stealing computers and electronic devices from school building.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public's help while investigating a theft that occurred at a Lake Orion Community Schools building on Scripps Road at the Lake Orion Community Schools Campus, according to Lt. Daniel Toth, Orion Township station commander. According to Toth, several computers and electronic devices were stolen in early May from the building. Video surveillance captured images of a man in the building prior to the theft. According to Toth, the man went through the school loading garbage bins with electronic devices belonging to the school district. A silver in color Chevrolet HHR vehicle is believed to be involved in the incident. Investigators need assistance identifying the suspect in the photos included …

Gunfight Reported at Orion Township Apartment Complex

Oakland County Sheriff's Office investigating incident late Thursday where shots were reported fired at Orion Township's Waldon Lakes apartment complex.

Oakland Township Sheriff's Deputies responded to a 911 call Thursday evening for a report of shots fired at the 2000 block of Cline Court, at the Waldon Lakes apartment complex, according to an incident report. Two witnesses reported two men engaged in a gunfight, one from a car and one on foot, according to the report.  According to the report, deputies arrived and began searching the area for the suspects. Deputies located the suspect who had reportedly fled on foot, a 21-year-old man from Pontiac, and arrested him at the scene. According to the report, the man also had outstanding arrest warrants. I saw a white older model car stopped on Joslyn midday, the day of the shooting. A younger black man was in the drivers seat and another person was in the back. They sat there blocking the southbound lane until an older black gentleman ( with gray in his hair) came from the direction of the apartment complex and got into the front passenger seat. Driver Wanted for Questioning in Road Rage Incident

Oakland County Sheriff's: Incident led to May 4 motorcycle accident on northbound M-24 in Orion Township.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a road rage incident that they say led to a May 4 motorcycle accident on northbound M-24 in Orion Township at 5:40 p.m., according to department officials. The motorcyclist was hospitalized in the accident, department officials indicated. Witnesses to the accident told department officials a black Yamaha motorcycle engaged in a verbal dispute with an unknown driver of a red vehicle believed to be a newer Ford Focus or Fusion. Witnesses reported the two drivers appeared to have been in a verbal confrontation with hand gestures as they drove side by side as they passed Silverbell Road while northbound on Lapeer Road. Deputies Say Orion Township Resident Attacked Victim With Hammer

36-year-old Orion Township resident arrested in connection with felonious assault.

The following information was provided by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. Arrests do not indicate a conviction. Oakland County Sheriff's Deputies responded May 2 to the 500 block of Joslyn Road in Orion Township for a report of a home invasion, according to an incident report. When deputies arrived, they located three people in the front yard of the home and determined a home invasion had not taken place, but deputies received a report of a felonious assault in which a victim had reportedly been struck in the head with a hammer, the report indicated. Deputies arrested a 36-year-old Orion Township resident in connection with the incident. They remain in custody at Oakland County Jail pending a warrant.

Man in Serious Condition After Motorcycle Rear-Ended in Orion Township

59-year-old Lake Orion man ejected from motorcycle, hospitalized.

A 59-year-old Lake Orion man was reported to be in serious condition late Wednesday after being ejected from his motorcycle in Orion Township, according to a report by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. According to the report, the Lake Orion man was seriously injured when a 52-year-old Clarkston man in a 2012 GMC Sierra pickup rear-ended his 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle Wednesday afternoon on northbound Baldwin north of Waldon in Orion Township. The accident occurred at about 12:35 p.m., the report indicated, when the motorcyclist was stopped on the roadway attempting to turn into a private driveway at the 2700 block of Baldwin when the truck struck the back of his motorcycle. 2 Sheriff's Deputies Hospitalized in Orion Township Fire

Deputies suffer smoke inhalation after knocking out blaze with fire extinguisher.

Oakland County Sheriff's Office deputies and Orion Township fire crews were dispatched late April 20 to the 100 block of Burniah Lane for a report of a residential fire, according to an incident report. When deputies arrived, they observed heavy smoke coming from the home, the report indicated.  The deputies forced their way into the home to check for people inside the house, according to the report, and knocked out the fire with a fire extinguisher. According to the report, two deputies suffered effects of smoke inhalation and were taken by ambulance to McLaren Hospital.  Both deputies were treated and released, the report indicated.

Patterson Appoints Rochester Hills Man to Public Services Department

Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson has appointed Capt. Mark Newman as director of the Public Services department. Newman, commander of the Investigative and Forensic Services Division at the Oakland County Sheriff, will oversee the county’s Animal Control Division, Circuit Court Probation Division, Community Corrections Division, the Medical Examiner's Office, Michigan State University Cooperative Extension, and Veterans' Services Division. Man Tells Deputies He Sexually Assaulted 7-Year-Old Stepdaughter

Man arrested on charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

The following information was provided by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. Arrests do not indicate a conviction. An Orion Township man told Oakland County Sheriff's Deputies on April 13 he wanted to turn himself in for sexually assaulting his seven-year-old stepdaughter, according to an incident report. According to the report, deputies and a detective arrived to the man's Orion Township residence, where he reportedly made incriminating statements. The man was arrested and lodged at the Oakland County Jail on a charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and Child Protective Services was notified of the case, the report indicated. The investigation is ongoing.

Domestic Dispute Prompts Search for Oakland Township Man

Deputies called to residence after woman reports son trying to break down door to family's home.

A woman called the Oakland County Sheriff's Office shortly after 3 a.m. on April 13 to report that her intoxicated 22-year-old son was breaking down the door to their home at the 400 block of Elm Court in Oakland Township, according to an incident report. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found the woman's son had fled the area on foot, but later returned to tell deputies his 50-year-old father was in the woods bleeding, the report indicated.  Deputies determined the father was trying to commit his son for psychiatric treatment at Crittenton Hospital when his son jumped out of the car on Rochester Road near Predmore, according to the report. Man With Stolen Property Arrested on Felony Warrant in Orion Township

The following information was provided by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. Arrests do not indicate a conviction. An Oakland County Sheriff's deputy on routine patrol on April 11 observed a man standing in a yard next to the window of a home on the 2500 block of Flintridge, according to department officials. When the deputy stopped to investigate, the subject ran away, officials indicated. Another deputy and a police dog joined the scene to assist in the search, officials indicated, and hte man was found in the back yard of an address at the 3400 block of Chalice when he tried to climb a fence, officials indicated.  According to officials, the police dog grabbed the man by his backpack and pulled him to the ground, where deputies …
