Business Expo Comes to Lake Orion High School

Expo runs 4-8 p.m. on May 9.

The Orion Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its 9th Annual Community Business Expo on May 9 at Lake Orion High School. The event runs from 4-8 p.m. and is free to the public.  The casino-themed event is expected to draw about 1,000 patrons and coincides with parent-teacher conferences at the school.  The expo allows businesses to share information about their services, sell their merchandise and distribute free samples, and introduces residents to local businesses and their owners. Registration information is available on the Orion Area Chamber of Commerce website.

You’ve heard of flash mobs; those fun, seemingly spontaneous events where a large group of people suddenly bursts into song or dance, much to the amusement of onlookers? In similar fashion, the Orion Area Chamber of Commerce has organized two cash mobs this holiday season to support local businesses. In a cash mob, social media is used to bring a group of people together to shop at one business. The actual location is a secret until the last minute. And the Chamber isn’t giving out any hints. Orion Business Expo Draws Record Number of Vendors

Alaina Campbell, executive director of the Orion Area Chamber of Commerce, was thrilled with the success of this year's expo.

There was a lot to see Thursday night at the Orion Area Chamber's 8th Annual Community Business Expo. About 100 vendors participated in the successful networking event at Lake Orion High School and hundreds of community members filed through the field house checking out what local businesses had to offer. Alaina Campbell, executive director of the Orion Area Chamber of Commerce, was thrilled to have 100 businesses participate, noting that it was the most they have ever had participate in the expo. Promotional goodies, food samples and prizes were distributed throughout the event and every hour on the hour music was cranked and attention was directed to a flash mob. New Substation Commander Introduced at Orion Chamber Event

May's Chamber luncheon featured members of the Oakland County Sheriff's Office including Lt. Daniel Toth.

Orion Township Substation's Lt. Daniel Toth, who recently replaced Lt. Bruce Naile, was in the spotlight at Orion Area Chamber's May luncheon on Thursday. Toth and other Oakland County Sheriff's Office representatives were the featured speakers for the gathering. Toth provided attendees with tips on how to make their businesses safer. The luncheon took place at Boulder Pointe Golf Club and Banquet Center in Oxford and was hosted jointly with the Oxford Chamber of Commerce. Joe Johnson of Orion Neighborhood Television submitted this video footage of the luncheon.

Meet Patch at Community Business Expo Next Week

Patch will be among more than 80 businesses that set up shop at this Orion Area Chamber event.

More than 80 businesses will be at Lake Orion High School Field House from 4-8 p.m. May 10 to participate in the 8th Annual Orion Area Chamber of Commerce Community Business Expo. The expo is a great opportunity to learn about all the new businesses in town and visit longtime businesses as well.  Plus, Patch will be there!
