Man Used Screwdriver to Pry Open Door of Ex-Girlfriend's Home, Police Say

It happened in Oakland Township on Friday night.

Authorities say a 52-year-old Madison Heights man used a screwdriver to pry open the door of an Oakland Township home Friday night. Deputies from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office responded to the 1200 block of Eagles Nest, north of Buell Road and east of Rochester Road, at 10:46 p.m. Friday. Deputies had received a report of a "suspicious" vehicle parked in the area, according to a report. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a man walking in the area carrying a screwdriver in his pocket; he told deputies he used to live in a home on Partridge Court, which is near Eagles Nest, the report stated.  "This address there was checked and the door to the attached garage was found open with pry marks," the report stated. Orion Man Say He Was Sleepwalking During Theft; Faces Narcotics Charges

The following information was supplied by the Farmington Hills Police Department. Arrests and charges do not indicate a conviction.

A Lake Orion man who told Northville Police he was sleepwalking when he took a cash box from Northville Downs faces narcotics charges after his vehicle was stopped at a hotel in Farmington Hills.  According to the Farmington Hills Police report, officers spoke with the 35-year-old Lake Orion resident after stopping his van at Knights Inn on Grand River, because the license plate was not registered. Police also noticed the registration tab was fraudulent; it was made of paper and taped to the license plate.  The report indicated that a search of the vehicle turned up a bag of marijuana concealed in a cigarette package, as well as orange pills and two white capsules. Man Steals Admiral's Gas; Police Arrest Intoxicated Men With Guns

The following is a recap of recent news from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office: A man reported on July 29 that someone had spray painted black paint over the front and rear lights and license plate of his 1990s Oldsmobile while it was parked in his girlfriend's driveway on Sunburst Circle in Oakland Township. According to a report from the sheriff's office, the victim believes the vandalism is racially motivated, as he is black and his girlfriend is white.  A couple from Walled Lake was cited for disorderly conduct on Aug. 5 after Oakland County Sheriff's deputies found them fighting near Silverbell and Lapeer roads around 2 a.m. A deputy found the 26-year-old woman walking east down Silverbell from the Orion Commerce Center. Man Charged in Theft of Assault Rifle in Home Invasion, Has Warrant for Felony Child Abuse

Police charged a man with outstanding warrants, including felony child abuse, in the theft of an AK-47 and home invasion in Orion Township. The following information was supplied by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office's Orion Township substation.

A man was charged this week in the July 7 burglary and home invasion of Orion Township home in which an assualt rifle was taken. Only July 7, an Orion Township man reported a home invasion at his house in 600 the block of Fernhurst Court.  he homeowner said an AK-47 assault rifle was missing, and he suspected the tenant renting his furnished basement was responsible for the burglary. Two days later, OCSO Orion Township substation detectives assigned to the case and began surveillance of the suspect, Edmund Joseph Proulx, a 29-year old man living in Dryden. Warrants were discovered for felony child abuse and two misdemeanor traffic violations agains Proulx. OCSO Orion Township detectives arrested him July 12, and Proulx confessed to …

Alleged Suicide Pact Attempted on the Paint Creek Trail Leaves Woman Dead

A man and woman attempted a drug-induced suicide pact by jumping off a bridge onto the Paint Creek Trail. The following information was supplied by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Substation in Oakland Township.

OCSO deputies responded to a report of suicide at the bridge at Clarkston and Kern Roads on the Paint Creek Trail in Oakland Township Monday morning. According to the police report, the incident appeared to be a suicide pact between the two victims. Police said the incident involved the victims using a combination of Methadone and Ambien. A 31-year-old Orion Township woman was pronounced dead at the scene, shortly after police arrived after 6 a.m. The Oakland County Medical Examiner is performing autopsy. Pipe Bomb Disarmed at Indianwood Golf Course Days Before U.S. Senior Open

A few days before the U.S. Senior Open is set to start, police responded to a suspicious package call and found a pipe bomb at Indianwood. The following information was supplied by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Substation in Orion Township.

A few days before the U.S. Senior Open is set to begin, the Michigan State Police bomb squad responded to assist in disarming a device resembling a pipe bomb at Indianwood Golf and Country Club. Oakland County Sheriff's Office received a call about a suspicious package that a maintenance worker discovered near a service gate on Joslyn Road at approximately 1:10 p.m. Thursday. Michigan State Police bomb squad responded and ensured the device was safe. The OCSO Forensic Science Laboratory is conducting tests on the device, and OCSO detectives are investigating the incident. "We have no credible information of any specific threat to the club or the upcoming Senior Open tournament, or that this is anything other than a random act," Sheriff …

Police Blotter: Employee Steals from Golf Club, Home Ransacked

Highlights from Oakland County Sheriff's Office - Oakland Township Substation reports from the past week: More than $16,000 worth of valuables, including silver hand goods and a pistol, were stolen from a home on the 300 block of Camelot Way on Sunday, according to a report. The 75-year-old homeowner had not been home in a couple weeks and his nephew was routinely mowing his lawn. When the nephew, a Holly resident, arrived on Sunday he noticed that the back door to the house was open. After looking inside, he found it had been ransacked and contacted the substation. Deputies noted that cabinets, doors and drawers were open in the dining room and master bedroom and were disheveled and in some cases emptied out, with many items strewn across…

Catalytic Converters Stolen from Chevrolets in Lake Orion

Thefts are happening around lunch time in public places, police say.

Over the course of the past two weeks three catalytic converters have been reported stolen from vehicles in the Orion area, according to Lake Orion Police Chief Jerry Narsh. The most recent incident took place around noon Monday. A catalytic converter was stolen off of a 2002 Chevrolet Venture that was parked in the Heritage Place parking lot in Lake Orion, Narsh said. Police believe the converters are being cut off with portable cutters. All three of the cars that Narsh noted within the past two weeks were Chevrolets, he said. “If anyone in the public sees someone underneath a car in a public parking lot they should contact the police and report what they witnessed,” Narsh said. “Likewise, if you come out of a restaurant and someone is …
