Unexpected Visitors Amaze Children at Carpenter Elementary

A wildlife lesson leapt from schoolbooks to reality Tuesday at Carpenter Elementary.
Children inside the Lake Orion classrooms were amazed when two Sandhill Cranes were nearby throughout the day. The honorary students approached the windows, allowing the kids to view them close up, according to Kris Murphy, a substitute teacher who snapped several shots of the long-legged birds.
